Option B -- Fan gate into the top thinner center section  with arrows showing metal flow

In Option B the gate into the die cavity is positioned at the top of the thinner center section of the elbow.

  • The top-shot gating into the center section requires the metal flow to split into two directions, which increases turbulence, requires unnecessary changes in flow direction and may produce porosity and incomplete fill in the die.

  • Gating  into the center section will leave trim marks on the main body of the elbow.  This will require extensive buffing and polishing to prevent blemishes on the chrome-plated surface.

The gate into the top center section is not the best design.
Go back and reconsider your choice of gate design.
